KINGOWER CAIRN AS MEMORIAL 1953 |
---|
Descendants of the late Rev. William Hall, pioneer clergyman of Kingower, Victoria have built a cairn at 'Glenalbyn Grange,' Kingower, as a memorial to Mr. and Mrs. Hall. This will be unveiled and dedicated by the Bishop of St. Arnaud tomorrow at 3 p.m.
In 1853 Rev. William Hall and his family settled at Brennanah. In 1858 he moved neared to Kingower and named the property 'Glenalbyn Grange.'
In the same year he built a chapel and schoolhouse of timber. The present church of St. Mary's, Kingower, was built in 1871, and the old chapel fell into decay, until today only a few wooden blocks mark the site.
